Sam - 4 years old
This is Sam, a trI-colour Border Collie who became a part of our family thanks to Vicki, Simon and their 5 dogs (Border Collies, Spaniels and a JRT), who were his foster parents before he joined us.
Sam became part of the Cutler household on 7th January 2012 and was deaf (not that you would know it unless anybody told you) as well as being the most loving Collie you could imagine.
Not so good as a guard dog though, as he could very easily sleep for 10-15 minutes after I had got home and wandered around the house.
Sam also used to like the rain, it seems, as I would occasionally find him asleep outside in the rain whilst Rocky had come inside for shelter.
He made it in to the magazines as one of the stars in an article about deaf dogs in 'Your Dog' magazine, and also took part in numerous Canicross demonstrations for the Deaf Dog Network.
At the beginning of April 2012, Sam helped me around the Forest Of Dean half-marathon course - I couldn't have done that without him.
Sam passed away on 9th March 2014 but will be loved forever.
